In Windows 8.1 do as follows:
1. Press [Windows] + [R].
2. Type 'regedit' and press [Enter].
3. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_Machine\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\atapi\Controller0
4. Create a new Dword value (same bit version as for your system).
5. Rename it as "EnumDevices 1"
6. Double click on the EnumDevice1 and set its value to 1.
7. Close the registry and restart your system.
